Senior Mine Surveyor

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Surveyor, the Senior Mine Surveyor will be based at Westgold's Northern Operations on a permanent 8 days on, 6 days off roster. This role oversees all surveying activities, ensuring accurate measurement and mapping of mine sites.  The successful candidate will manage a team of junior surveyors, verify data quality, supporting planning and operations and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards,

The role includes

• Maintaining control network to Mines Department stands or above for both surface and underground
• Setup of drone network control for surface operations
• Survey and maintain accurate mine model updates
• Control Underground development to design
• Survey calculations
• Prepare and compile accurate and timely end of month reports
• Develop, maintain and review safe working practices
• Survey training of underground personnel
• Carry out survey tasks in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.

What do I need?

• Tertiary Qualification – Degree or Advanced Diploma in Surveying
• Grade 1 Authorised Mine Surveyors Certificate (preferred but not essential)
• 4–5+ years relevant Underground Surveying experience
• Relevant equipment experience Leica, Trimble and Optech CMS
• Remote Pilot License – Drone (desirable)
• Ability to communicate effectively and lead a small team to success 
• Knowledge and understanding of Mines Regulations, WH&S and duty of care.
