Our Yara Creche sits within the Child and Family Services team, providing a safe, nurturing, and culturally connected space for Gudjagang (baby/child/ren) while their parents and caregivers engage in the Day Rehabilitation Program.The Yara Creche is not open to the wider community — it is a specialised service available only to participants of certain EDAS programs as part of service delivery.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Child and Family worker (room leader) to lead our Yara Creche. This role is central to supporting the wellbeing and development of children in our care while ensuring a culturally safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
The Senior Child and Family Worker will:
Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to staff within the creche.
Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed early childhood education and care.
Foster children's connection to culture, identity, and community.
Build trusting relationships with families, supporting their engagement in the Day Rehab program.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and implementation of culturally responsive, play-based learning programs.
Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to creche staff.
Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and developmental needs of children are met at all times.
Engage with families to build trust, strengthen parenting capacity, and promote positive outcomes for children.
Maintain accurate records, observations, and reports in line with organisational requirements.
Support the integration of cultural knowledge, language, and practices into daily routines.
About You
Qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (minimum Diploma; Bachelor desirable).
Demonstrated leadership skills in an early childhood or creche setting.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and child development.
Commitment to working in partnership with Aboriginal families and communities.
Ability to build trust and foster positive, culturally safe relationships with children, families, and staff.
Current NSW Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
