Why work with us:

The Office for Early Childhood Development was created to champion change and to help build a system that gives all South Australian children a flying start to life.

Guided by the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the Office for Early Childhood Development is the steward of the early childhood development system in South Australia.

The Office is tasked with a significant responsibility: bringing together a holistic, connected system for early childhood development across South Australia, with the goal of reducing the rate of children entering school developmental vulnerable. Critical to this is the roll-out of universal 3-year-old preschool from 2026, giving every child access to 2 years of teacher-led, play-based early learning before school.

About this role:

As a key member of the Local Team, you will:

  • provide
    high-level coordination and administrative support

    financial processes
, HR tasks, and internal compliance reporting.
  • act as the first point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring
    professional, timely, and responsive communication
    .
  • foster collaboration by maintaining
    information systems, databases
    , and communication channels.

About you:

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. If you are organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting communities and improving early childhood outcomes, we want to hear from you.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • excellent
    communication skills
and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • exceptional
    organisation and time management skills
, including juggling competing priorities under pressure.
  • strong
    coordination and problem-solving skills
with a commitment to proactive support.
  • ability to work
    independently and with initiative
, exercising discretion and sound judgment.

Role benefits:

You will enjoy:

  • working within a statewide network
of passionate and collaborative Local Teams.
