Job Description – Part-Time Bookkeeper & Accountant (Transport Industry)
About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. This role is within the transport and logistics sector, requiring a good understanding of industry-specific accounting practices such as fleet costs, fuel tracking, and driver payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounts for the business.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and fuel accounts.
  • Process payroll, including overtime, allowances, and driver-related expenses.
  • Track and monitor vehicle expenses (fuel, maintenance, insurance, registration).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with ATO and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and tax authorities as required.
  • Provide management with timely insights on cash flow, profitability, and cost control.
  • Assist with Admin duties and Data entry where required to assist the admin team
Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant (experience in the transport/logistics industry preferred).
  • Proficiency in XERO accounting software is a must, knowledge in Freight tracker TMS, Container Chain and One stop preferred, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory compliance.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage part-time hours effectively.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
