
Development Compliance Officer

As a Development Compliance Officer, you'll play a key role in upholding the city's regulatory standards by enforcing compliance with a range of legislation, including the Local Government Act 1993, Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993, and the Building Act. You'll investigate reports of non-compliance, engage with the community to support understanding of regulatory obligations, and help ensure good governance across the city through fair and consistent enforcement.
Role accountabilities include:
- Respond to complaints by managing and documenting enquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and effective communication with the public.
- Investigate non-compliance by conducting investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports and enforcement documentation.
- Enforce regulations by issuing statutory documents and coordinate compliance actions in line with relevant legislation.
- Maintain records and accurately record compliance activities and contribute to system and process improvements.
- Engage stakeholders and collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and the community to promote awareness and voluntary compliance.

About youYou're a confident and capable compliance professional with a strong understanding of regulatory enforcement. You hold a Certificate IV in Local Government (Compliance) or bring equivalent experience in a similar environment. With a current Driver Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People, you're ready to engage with the community professionally and respectfully.
You have a solid grasp of legislation and regulatory frameworks, and you're skilled at interpreting and applying them in real-world scenarios. Your investigative mindset, combined with your ability to manage sensitive matters confidentially, makes you a trusted and effective contributor to compliance outcomes.
