The Team:
Public Health Services is a division of the Tasmanian Department of Health with the mission to empower Tasmanians to protect and improve the health of Tasmanians. The Tobacco Control Unit administers the licencing framework for smoking product retailers in Tasmania and regulates the sale or supply of smoking products in Tasmania.
The Role:
- Support the regulatory functions of the Tobacco Control Unit through the operation of the licensing and information management system, records management, and preparation of routine reports.
- Provide advice on administrative regulatory requirements and licencing procedures to licence applicants and stakeholders.
- Support Senior Tobacco Control Officers and Tobacco Control Officers to carry out routine compliance activities.
You will need to:
- Support the regulatory functions of the Tobacco Control Unit through the operation of the licensing and information management system, records management, and preparation of routine reports.
- Provide advice on administrative regulatory requirements and licencing procedures to licence applicants and stakeholders.
- Support Senior Tobacco Control Officers and Tobacco Control Officers to carry out routine compliance activities.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible
- notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Current Working with Children Registration or Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

- Current Driver's Licence
- Certificate IV in Government (investigations or similar)
