Billabong Zoo is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Supervisor to lead our front-of-house operations across Admissions, Zoo Retail Store and The Meeting Point Café. This role is ideal for someone passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences while supporting a dynamic team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Our Supervisors play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining service excellence, and upholding the zoo's commitment to conservation, sustainability, and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across Café, Retail and Admissions, ensuring high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Supervise, train, and support staff to deliver efficient, friendly and professional service.
  • Manage POS systems, daily cash handling, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Assist with rostering, inventory management, stock ordering and supplier coordination.
  • Support food and beverage preparation, including barista duties during peak times.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Monitor visitor entry processes, ticketing, memberships and online bookings.
  • Respond to customer enquiries, both in person and via phone and email.
  • Liaise with the Zoo's management team to maintain smooth communication and guest satisfaction.
  • Lead by example in promoting Billabong Zoo's values of conservation, respect and sustainability.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or senior customer service role within café, retail or tourism environments.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Experience with POS systems, EFTPOS, and digital payment platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a busy, high-volume setting.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cash-handling protocols.
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain before commencing).
  • Legal right to work in Australia.

Desirable Criteria

  • Barista skills and experience in food and beverage preparation.
  • Valid Food Handling Certificate or equivalent.
  • Current RSA.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience within a tourism, attractions, or hospitality venue.
  • Interest in conservation, wildlife, or sustainable business practices.
