About the role
Sia & Sia Lawyers are seeking a talented Senior Lawyer or Special Counsel to join their Brisbane-based team. This full-time role (part-time role also considered) will focus on providing strategic legal advice and support to our retail and property development clients. As a key member of the team, you will play an integral role in shaping the legal strategy and operations of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Property Transactions: Commercial, Office, Industrial and Retail property sales, acquisitions, and due diligence for significant property assets
- Development Work: Assist with site acquisition, due diligence, structuring, titling, body corporate and land subdivision developments
- Advising clients on regulatory compliance, including planning and zoning requirements, strata-titling and associated matters, volumetric titling, DA approval requirements.
- Leasing: Draft and negotiate Commercial, Office, Industrial and Retail leases, including complex agreements for lease, major tenant leases, lease renewals, variations and enforcement actions
- General Property Work: Contract negotiation, settlement processes, and property-related advisory work
- Client Management: Direct client contact and relationship building with major property investors, developers, and corporate clients. Collaborating with the broader team to identify and mitigate legal risks for clients
- Mentoring and supervising more junior members of the legal team.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial real estate and property development law
- Proven track record of providing high-quality, commercially-focused legal advice to clients
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance risk and commercial objectives
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
- Ability to work autonomously and lead projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
