This is an exciting opportunity for a creative mechanical design engineer to become the driving force behind innovative robotic cell and machinery designs. You'll work on high-profile, internationally significant projects, designing bespoke automation solutions from concept to completion. This role offers the chance to work on complete factory automation lines and contribute to globally significant projects in the rapidly expanding robotics and automation industry.

What you'll be doing?- Creative Design Leadership - Drive the creative process behind robotic cell and machinery designs, transforming concepts and discussions into innovative automation solutions
- Bespoke System Development - Design complete production solutions tailored to specific customer requirements, from standalone robotic cells to full factory automation lines
- 3D Design and Modeling - Create detailed design studies, breaking down parts, developing assemblies, and preparing customer-ready 3D models using advanced CAD software
- Cost Analysis and Optimization - Develop comprehensive cost analyses, BOMs, and spreadsheet-based cost tracking systems for efficient project management
- Technical Problem Solving - Determine suitable robots, tooling, and end-effectors for diverse customer applications through creative engineering solutions
- International Project Contribution - Work on high-profile international projects being supplied and installed in Australia, contributing to globally significant automation initiatives
- Client Interaction Support - Assist with quoting processes and cost estimation to support business development activities
- CAD Software Proficiency - Strong skills in Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or SolidWorks, with ability to adapt and learn new design platforms
- Engineering Qualification - Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification demonstrating solid technical foundation
- Design Innovation Skills - Ability to generate original designs from scratch based on conceptual discussions and customer requirements
- Simulation Capabilities - Experience in system simulation and creating comprehensive design studies for complex automation projects
- Analytical Skills - Strong spreadsheet and cost analysis abilities for accurate project costing and resource planning
- Creative Problem Solving - High-level problem-solving abilities with creativity to bring complex automation concepts to life
- Business Acumen - Exposure to quoting and cost estimation processes to support commercial objectives
