
Medical Secretary/Receptionist

An opportunity for a medical secretary role has become available in our busy but friendly and supportive private rheumatology practice, located in Fitzroy.
The role is a part time contract starting as soon as possible. Whilst the practice hours are from 8am to 5pm, your hours would be no more than 22.5 hours per week, allowing for some early finishes or late starts. There may also be the opportunity to work from home on some days after initial training.
Medical secretary experience is required but further training is provided. Tasks your role would include are:
- Greeting patients
- Answering phones and email enquiries
- Making appointments
- Billing of patient appointments, both private payments and bulk billing to Medicare
- Scanning of results and correspondence
- Printing and sending out of mail including correspondence
- Cleaning of consulting rooms and common areas
- Stock take of both medical items and stationery
- Other tasks as requested by the specialists and the practice manager
Ideally, you would have the following qualities:
- A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail
- Previous experience in customer service
If you have prior medical secretary experience, previous experience in the following areas would be an advantage but not required:
- Using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Using Zedmed or other medical practice software
