Work Science, one of Australia's highly regarded safety and risk management consultancies is seeking a Hazmat & Hygiene Consultant to support the delivery of our pipeline of projects.

About the role:

Note: This role is primarily based in-office in Sydney and with field site work as required. In addition there may be flexibility to work from home in accordance with deliverables and coordination with your manager.

In this client-facing role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting sampling and field work as briefed
  • Providing clients with services in the areas of asbestos, hazardous materials and occupational hygiene
  • Delivering client reports and participating in Work Science Quality Assurance processes
  • Supporting business development through research and collateral development
  • Pursuing business opportunities through proactive client engagement
  • Other tasks which contribute to the success of our clients, and our business

About you:

In addition to your motivation, enthusiasm, and drive for high performance in a team environment, we're looking for someone who aligns with the following:

Desirable Qualifications and experience

  • Degree level qualification in occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, science or related field
  • 1 - 3 years' experience delighting your clients, colleagues and onlookers in a technical asbestos, hazardous materials or occupational hygiene role
  • Licensed Asbestos Assessor qualification (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum Provisional Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (MAIOH), or working towards membership.
  • NATA accredited laboratory asbestos fibre counter / Bulk ID experience desirable

Skills and capabilities

  • Tenacious, resourceful and willing to work outside comfort zones to learn and grow
  • Good technical writing and systems documentation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel
  • Curious, inquisitive, adaptable to change and capable to thrive in a commercial consulting environment
  • Team player, jumps in to help others
  • Pragmatic problem solver
