Who is the ACF?

When it comes to our environment, the Australian Conservation Foundation has been leading the way in protecting our living world for over half a century.

We are the national environment organisation committed to caring for Australia's unique and beautiful wildlife and natural world. We're inclusive, non-partisan and funded by the Australian community.

Whether it's advocating for the Great Barrier Reef, koalas snoozing in big old trees or for strong climate action, our dedicated community of more than half a million people are constantly working to create a world where forests, rivers, people, and wildlife thrive.

What's the gig?

Are you ready to lead a bold, people-powered campaign to protect Australia's nature and the people that rely on it? The Lead Organiser (Nature) role is your opportunity to drive real change by mobilising communities and likely and unlikely allies, to fix Australia's broken nature laws.

In this newly created role, you'll lead a strategic ground campaign in key locations, working with everyday Australians to create a visible wave of support for strong nature protections. You'll identify and activate trusted organisations and influential individuals nationally that that can amplify and strengthen our case for strong nature protection and influence decision-makers to protect nature that we all rely upon.

Together with the Organising team you will recruit and empower community members to host impactful events, meet with MPs, and take meaningful action both online and offline to influence decision-makers and protect nature that we all rely upon. As the Lead Organiser, you will manage a small but mighty team of two Field Organisers and support ACF's Organising and Digital Activation teams to deliver a strategic ground campaign in key electorates across the country.

No two days will be the same. You will build relationships with both likely and unlikely allies, support your team to deliver high-impact actions, and help shape a national movement that puts nature at the heart of Australia's future. If you're a strategic thinker, a natural leader, and passionate about people-powered change, we'd love to hear from you.

About you

You are an experienced organiser and/or campaigner with a deep passion for protecting Australia's environment

With experience in community organising or community campaigning, you're excited about this opportunity to make an impact as you believe that everyday people have the power to change things—for the better—for the places, wildlife and people we love.

You have experience leading small teams to deliver on-the-ground community campaigns. You are confident to lead a high-performing team across interstate locations. You're comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on support and can adapt your leadership style to meet evolving team and campaign needs.

You are an excellent and persuasive communicator who has experience building community support and cross-movement alliances to achieve shared goals. You have experience in building cross-movement alliances and partnerships and engage influential and trusted voices.

You have a fail-fast mentality and are comfortable working in uncertainty within a collaborative, committed, supportive and fun team.

You're confident using campaign data and systems to evaluate progress, manage risks, and stay aligned to strategic goals. You're a clear, persuasive communicator—capable of inspiring supporters, aligning people around shared objectives.

You're a people person who loves talking to others in person and on the phone, discovering what makes them tick. You get your energy from being out in communities, building people power on the ground.
