The Role

We're looking for an exceptional Head of Sales to drive PlayHQ's growth across Australia and New Zealand. As our Head pf Sales for ANZ, you'll drive revenue through a dual-speed sales approach - closing quick wins with local clubs while navigating complex, multi-stakeholder deals with major sporting bodies and government organisations.

Your mission:
Exceed revenue targets by establishing PlayHQ as the essential platform for sporting organisations across the region.

Initially, this will be an individual contributor role focused on direct sales execution that will evolve into a people leadership role. Working in a hybrid environment (although it it is not imperative that you live in Melbourne), you'll manage a diverse pipeline ranging from $5k grassroots deals to $1M+ enterprise partnerships.

What You'll Be Doing:

Revenue Generation

  • Drive monthly recurring revenue and customer acquisition targets across the ANZ region
  • Manage enterprise sales pipeline with sporting governing bodies, government agencies, and major associations
  • Lead complex negotiations and RFP responses for high-value strategic partnerships
  • Execute high-velocity sales to community clubs alongside long-cycle enterprise deals
  • Develop pricing strategies and deal structures for organizations ranging from volunteer clubs to national bodies

Strategic Relationship Management

  • Engage with major sporting bodies whilst navigating complex procurement processes with government and quasi-government entities
  • Build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups including C-suite, procurement, legal, and technical teams
  • Partner with state sporting organizations and regional
    associations

Direct Sales Execution

  • Conduct outbound prospecting to identify and qualify opportunities across all market segments
  • Manage full sales cycle from initial contact through to close
  • Execute field sales activities including on-site demonstrations and stakeholder meetings
  • Balance high-volume transactional sales with strategic enterprise sales

What you need to thrive in this role:

  • Enterprise Sales Excellence: Experience crushing quota in complex B2B enterprise sales, with proven ability to close 6-7 figure deals with multiple stakeholders
  • Complex Deal Management: Deep experience navigating government, quasi-government, and large enterprise procurement processes with 6-12+ month sales cycles
  • Hunter Mentality: Proven track record of opening new logos and building pipeline from scratch in competitive markets
  • People leadership: Experience managing teams across enterprise sales and account management
  • Dual Speed Execution: Comfortable closing both quick transactional deals ($5-20k) and complex strategic partnerships ($100k-$1M+)
  • Stakeholder Navigation: Exceptional ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups including C-suite, procurement, legal, and technical teams
  • Data-Driven Approach: Strong analytical skills with experience in SaaS metrics, subscription models, and pipeline forecasting
  • Startup Experience: Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you need to figure things out independently
