About the role

Katungul is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Community Engagement Advisor to join our team as part of the Building on Aboriginal Communities' Resilience (BACR) suicide prevention initiative.  This Identified* role is a unique opportunity to lead the design and delivery of community-led, culturally grounded engagement across the Yuin Nation lands.

This role is full time fixed term end 30 June 2028. The role is dedicated to centering Aboriginal voices and perspective in programs that support social and emotional wellbeing. You'll work directly with communities across the Eurobodalla Shire and Bega Valley Shire to deliver initiatives that honour culture, connection and healing.

What you'll be doing

· Build meaningful relationships with community members, Elders and stakeholders

· Lead culturally responsive engagement and resilience programs

· Facilitate community consultation and feedback loops

· Support advocacy and program development grounded in local cultural knowledge

· Contribute to suicide prevention efforts that prioritise culture as a source of strength and healing

What we're looking for

· Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and lived experience

· Tertiary qualifications in community development, health promotion, communications, or relevant discipline (desirable)

· Understanding of trauma-informed and healing-centered practice models (desirable)

· Strong relationships or connections in local Aboriginal communities

· Experience in community engagement or cultural advisory roles

· Previous involvement in suicide prevention, mental health or related programs (desirable)

· Compassionate communication, leadership, and organisational skills

· A commitment to making a difference through culturally safe practice
