Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for managing and optimising a diverse range of infrastructure components, including physical devices, virtual resources, cloud services, middleware, network services, and data storage solutions. These components span on-premises environments, outsourced services, and cloud platforms.

This is a technical leadership position where you will be pivotal in driving automation, strengthening cybersecurity measures, and enabling the adoption of cloud and hybrid technologies to ensure a secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure environment.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provision and adapt infrastructure components to meet evolving business needs.
  • Manage virtual, cloud, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting, coding, orchestration tools, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Enhance infrastructure security with regular updates, patching, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, efficiency, and security posture while driving sustainability.
  • Collaborate closely with development and Dev Ops teams.
  • Implement containerisation technologies to improve deployment and scalability.

Technical Skills & Experience

This position requires proven expertise in:

  • Implementing automation and cybersecurity measures across hybrid environments.
  • Provisioning, deploying, configuring, and optimising physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Using Nutanix and other modern infrastructure platform management tools.
  • Driving continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and performance optimisation.

Essential Criteria (Weighted 20% each)
  1. Demonstrated capability to apply technical expertise to maintain and optimise technology infrastructure, executing updates and employing automation tools.
  2. Demonstrated capability to configure tools and/or create scripts to automate infrastructure tasks, maintain operational procedures, and ensure adherence to security policies.
  3. Demonstrated capability to investigate and resolve operational and security-related issues, providing reports and improvement proposals to stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated capability to contribute to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates.
  5. Demonstrated capability to drive adoption of tools and automated processes for operational management and service delivery.

Desirable Criteria
  • Technical leadership in optimising performance of infrastructure environments.
  • Experience overseeing planning, installation, maintenance, and acceptance of new/updated infrastructure components aligned with service and security standards.
  • Capability to ensure operational documentation is current and effective, with reporting of operational issues to stakeholders.
