About the Role

The role will provide support to the Head of Compliance to help ensure icare meets its legal, regulatory and internal policy obligations through the implementation of the Compliance Management Policy and other enterprise risk and compliance frameworks and policies.

Be actively involved in partnering with the business to document first line controls and supporting the monitoring and assurance plan at the second line and to undertake reviews and prepare reports on the effectiveness of the framework and system.

Duties

It's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same the Ministerial and Parliamentary Specialist you will:

  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with the Minister's Office and across icare to ensure matters are addressed efficiently and assigned appropriate priority.
  • Prepare and manage the timely provision of high quality urgent, controversial or sensitive documents, proactively follow-up and drive outcomes within tight timeframes, and ensure that responses and outcomes are within Government, portfolio and icare policies.
  • Analyse and interpret information, identify current and/or emerging issues, areas of interest / concern, and good news stories relating to relevant agency and portfolio matters, and provide advice, explanation and guidance to the Minister and Ministerial Staff on appropriate responses and actions.
  • Support the Minister by proactively managing files and background materials on matters of current significance for Parliament, under the guidance of Head of Ministerial and Parliamentary Services.
  • Proactively manage advice and enquiries relating to relevant icare matters, referring to agencies within another portfolio where required.
  • Manage and contribute to the development and streamlining of guidelines and systems for handling correspondence and briefing services, ensuring consistency in approach and compliance with relevant processes and protocols.
  • Observe principles of diplomacy and confidentiality in relation to all material handled and be alert to the consequences of poor or incorrect advice.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, policies, protocols and procedures.
  • A broad range of experience in working in Government in an advisory capacity and in dealing with information.
