The role

As an
Assistant Ministerial and Parliamentary Liaison Officer
, within the Office of the Secretary, you're in the engine room behind the Ministerial and Parliamentary Services team, keeping everything moving with precision and purpose. You'll manage ministerial and parliamentary requests and mailboxes, using records management systems, coordinate approvals, and ensure every product meets the right standards. It's a role that blends admin smarts with expert coordination, all while supporting high-level decision-making.

You'll be challenged with juggling tight deadlines, navigating complex communication channels, and handling sensitive information with professionalism. Whether it's liaising with ministerial or Departmental offices, triaging and tracking requests, or improving our internal systems, your work helps the Department stay responsive, accurate, and aligned with government protocols.

What you will bring to the role

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with team members.
  • Solid time management, organisational skills and attention to detail to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Proficient in navigating government protocols and Departmental systems to ensure compliance and timely delivery of ministerial and parliamentary products.
  • Skilled in coordinating cross-functional inputs and approvals, maintaining accuracy and consistency across high-volume documentation workflows.
  • A curiosity for finding the right place for requests to be directed to.
