Caboolture, Queensland, Australia Centre Against Domestic Abuse Full time $80,000 - $104,000 per year

CADA is seeking a warm, strategic and capable Human Resources and Policy Officer to support our organisation across all stages of the employee lifecycle - from onboarding and staff development to compliance and strategic workforce planning.

This is a standalone HR generalist role that balances operational support with high level advisory and policy work. You'll work closely with our CEO, Manager of Operations and Compliance, and frontline leaders to ensure our HR practices are legally compliant, people focused and aligned with the values that underpin our work.

We're looking for someone who leads with kindness, understands the importance of procedural fairness, and brings others along on the journey. Someone who can meet people where they're at, tailor their advice to suit different communication styles and make complex information practical and accessible.

You'll also help shape our policy and compliance framework, contribute to workforce planning, support audits and champion improvements that foster an inclusive, safe and thriving workplace.

About Us

The Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) is a community organisation funded by the Queensland Government to respond to adults and children affected by domestic and family violence. We provide counselling and crisis/court support, referrals, risk assessment and safety planning, and high risk integrated service responses, as well as trauma informed recovery focused support for women. CADA is active in advocacy, community education and early intervention and, prevention strategies work towards a future free from domestic and family violence, in partnership with government and organisations working in the sector. We operate from offices at Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine.

CADA encourages applicants from a variety of backgrounds, we value a diverse workforce and pride ourselves on inclusivity. We offer internal employment and development opportunities to support our team's growth.

We'd love to hear from you if you…

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or similar and a minimum 3 years' experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within the community services or not for profit sector.

  • Are confident in providing HR advice guided by the Fair Work Act, SCHADS Award and best practice approaches

  • Have experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, training and performance conversations

  • Are comfortable drafting and reviewing HR policies and procedures to align with relevant legislation and quality standards (like the Human Services Quality Framework)

  • Enjoy solving problems and helping others navigate challenging situations with fairness and empathy

  • Have experience working in the not for profit or community services sector (or are excited to learn)

  • Believe that compliance and compassion can - and should - go hand in hand

Why join CADA?

CADA has a strong commitment to employee wellbeing and offer:

  • Salary packaging: As a not for profit, CADA employees can use part of their gross income to pay for everyday living expenses. This minimises their taxable income giving them more take home pay.

  • Bonus leave: All employees are gifted days between Christmas and New Year, up to two wellbeing days per year and even a day off on their birthday

  • Paid Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Three confidential, short term counselling sessions are available for every employee and immediate family per year.

  • Wellbeing initiatives: CADA recognises our teams hard work and commitment. Each year our teams celebrate with a wellbeing day – it could be coffee and canvas or fish and chips by the bay. We also have a dedicated wellbeing group who run initiatives through the year, like massage day.

  • Six weeks paid parental leave: After 12 months of employment, employees are eligible for six weeks of paid parental leave by CADA. This can also be used for those who may foster and adopt.

  • Supervision – As well as regular internal supervision sessions, CADA pays for up to five external professional development supervision sessions for all staff members per year.

  • And much more.

What you'll be doing

As our Human Resources and Policy Officer, your work will be varied and meaningful. You'll be responsible for:

  • Providing day to day HR advice to the CEO, managers and staff on issues such as performance, conduct and entitlements

  • Leading recruitment, onboarding, induction and staff training activities

  • Managing HR documentation, records and employment contracts using our internal systems including SharePoint, TANDA and Tribal Habits

  • Supporting workforce planning and contributing to HR strategy

  • Drafting and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and funding requirements

  • Staying across changes in employment law and sharing your knowledge to build capability across the organisation

  • Assisting with preparation for audits and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

  • Partnering with the CEO and leadership team to ensure CADA remains a compliant, supportive and inclusive workplace

  • Providing general administrative support to the CEO and management team as needed

You'll be supported to succeed in this role but you'll also have space to make it your own.
