About the Position

Reporting to the Manager in Business Services, this role provides exceptional client service through the delivery of timely, high-quality accounting, taxation, and business advisory services. You will be responsible for the preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns, and activity statements across a range of entity types and structures. The role also includes mentoring and supporting less experienced team members, while applying strong technical knowledge and commercial acumen to client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a client portfolio, including client contact, workflow turnaround, job costing, and debtor control.
  • Prepare and review general workpapers, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Complete client data input and generate necessary journal entries and trial balances.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Provide proactive advice on compliance matters including PAYG, GST, FBT, Superannuation, Workcover, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Discuss financial outcomes with clients and provide commercial and tax insights.
  • Identify opportunities to add value and support business development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff in processing, bookkeeping, and accounting tasks.
  • Maintain accurate statutory records and documentation for client entities.
  • Represent the firm professionally in client meetings and community engagements.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience working as an Accountant in public practice.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent (CA/CPA qualification preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns for a variety of entities, including trusts and companies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, GST compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, and cloud-based accounting tools.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
