About the role

Join the dynamic team at Melbourne Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as an Oral Surgery Assistant. This full-time role based in Melbourne, VIC will see you providing vital support to one of our highly skilled oral surgeons, ensuring the smooth running of our busy practice. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional patient care.

This position is available to start immediately, Monday to Friday (no weekend work), with a rostered day off once a fortnight.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting an oral surgeon during various procedures, including extractions, dental implants, and pathology
  • Preparing and sterilising surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintaining detailed patient records and updating medical histories
  • Coordinating patient appointments and managing the dental surgery schedule
  • Providing compassionate support and guidance to patients throughout their treatment
  • Ensuring the dental surgery environment is clean, organised, and fully stocked
  • Undertaking administrative duties as required to support the smooth operation of the practice

What we're looking for

  • Must have Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV would be an advantage but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a caring and empathetic approach
  • Proficient in using dental software and technology
  • Commitment to adhering to strict infection control protocols and safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit, collaborative team
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development
  • Drivers licence as travel to external branch practices and hospitals will be required
