The Centre for Specialist Facial Surgery is the privately owned practice of Mr Richard J. Huggins, a highly respected Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with clinics in Toorak and Bendigo, Victoria. We are a specialised, referral-based practice providing exceptional surgical care for orthognathic surgery, restorative implant treatment & complex dental extractions. About the Role

We are on the lookout for a casual Registered Nurse / Dental Assistant to join the team at our Toorak practice. The Nurse / Dental Assistant would be responsible for postoperative patient care and providing surgical chair-side assistance and support to the Principal Surgeon. This role also assists with implant placement, bone grafts, sinus lifts and complex extractions. Working alongside our Practice Manager and surgical team you will:

  • Assist Surgeon during oral and maxillofacial procedures;
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile fields;
  • Assisting with patient preparation, including positioning and draping;
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients;
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation;
  • Ensure clinical areas meet infection control and safety standards;
  • Maintaining a clear operative field of view;
  • Supporting and protecting body tissues.
  • Triage & assist patients postoperatively with any concerns

About You

To be the perfect addition to our team you will have a Bachelor of Nursing and Certificate or Diploma in Dental Assisting along with experience working as a Nurse or Dental Assistant at an oral surgery or dental clinic.  You will also have:

  • Strong empathy and professionalism to support patients throughout their surgical experience;
  • Experience with intra oral scanning and D4W (preferred);
  • A great understanding of Infection Prevention and Control
  • Strong organisational and communication skills and a professional, friendly, and patient-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work well in a team and under pressure;
