BA proudly manages Australian national teams (Boomers & Opals, Rollers & Gliders, men's and women's Gangurrus 3x3 and junior national teams), athlete pathways, the Centre of Excellence facility, national championship events, major international events and leads community programs for the good of the whole sport.

These critical foundations, along with our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP , and BA's Women & Girls Strategy will set our direction and represent how we will bring our mission to life.

What is the role?

We are seeking an outstanding leader to oversee the operations, campaigns and programs of our world-renowned Wheelchair High Performance Program. This pivotal role will drive the success of our national teams – Rollers, Gliders, Spinners, Devils and Wheelchair 3x3 – at benchmark events including World Championships and the Paralympic Games.

As High Performance Manager Wheelchair Basketball, you will be the trusted leader who unites athletes, coaches, and stakeholders to achieve a shared vision of success. Guided by BA's values, you will role model inclusive leadership where teams Win Well on the international stage.

Overarching responsibilities include:

  • Leading the operational planning and delivery of national and international wheelchair campaigns.
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, facility bookings, equipment, and uniforms in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Overseeing logistics, budgets, compliance, safeguarding and integrity standards for all campaigns.
  • Acting as the central liaison with coaches, athletes, Paralympics Australia, IWBF, Commonwealth Games Australia, state associations and BA's internal teams.
  • Supporting pathways, classification, wellbeing and integrated performance services to ensure they are aligned with campaigns,
  • Representing BA with pride at benchmark events and fostering strong international relationships.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with state associations, and significant international bodies including Commonwealth Games Australia, IWBF and Paralympics Australia.
  • Supporting Head Coaches, the National Institute Network and High Performance staff to support athlete development and performance environments.

About you

We're looking for a highly organised, operational leader with a track record in managing and coordinating high performance teams, preferably on an international level.

You will be respected by athletes and coaches alike, capable of balancing operational detail to achieve the bigger picture strategy and committed to working with a range of complex stakeholders' group to support team success. You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport management, business, or related field.
  • Well established experience in operational management of an elite wheelchair basketball program.
  • Well experienced and inclusive stakeholder manager who can collaborate and influence at all levels and has the proven ability to do so.
  • An in depth understanding of the wheelchair basketball ecosystem and the key stakeholders in bringing sustained success to the program.
  • Proven experience in managing people and workforces to deliver exceptional results for the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Understanding of Work Championships structures and international basketball operations.

The role is Full time, based at our Melbourne Office, at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South. The role will require domestic and international travel.
