Quality Control Officer

Costa is an ASX listed Company that manages and operates multiple farms and horticultural properties throughout the country, growing an extensive range of produce in more than 30 rural and regional communities across Australia.
Costa has a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Control Officer to join the team in our Table Grapes team, based in Sunraysia. Working closely with the National Food Safety & Quality Advisor, the Quality Control Officer is responsible for actioning key activities in accordance with Costa's Food Safety and Quality Management systems. This role will have a particular focus on our quality control for our export produce.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Quality Control activity in receival, storage and dispatch sites
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve high product quality standards and to meet "right fruit, right box" principles
- Ensure quality control standards are maintained to ensure the right fruit reaches the right customer with the correct packaging and labelling
- Ensure document and record keeping is at a high standard
- Provide education, coaching and training to front-line workers as required
- Supporting the National FS&Q Advisor to meet Costa Standards and compliance requirements
- Work with the team to ensure product quality assessments and food safety and quality requirements meet compliance and Costa standards
- Participate in compliance audits for food safety & quality, export and interstate certification arrangements
- Support the handling of food safety and quality incidents/near misses including investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
- Support the National FS&Q Advisor in projects and solutions to improve Food Safety & Quality culture
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested to improve company performance
Role Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in FSQ as it relates to harvest and/or packing of Table Grape
- Familiarity with protocols around quality expectations and standards as it relates to produce for export markets
- Training related to Food Safety, Internal Audit or HACCP is advantageous
- Other relevant Food Safety training in quality management, product recall, food legislation & labelling will be highly regarded
- Strong planning, monitoring and decision-making skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing situations
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with people from different backgrounds
- Ability to travel to multiple sites based on operational requirements
- A drivers licence
This position involves the coordination, performance and verification of work affecting food safety and quality and as such will have an emphasis on ensuring regulatory compliance requirements are met. It is essential for the successful applicant to be very motivated, able to actively participate in day to day operations and have the ability to act decisively and work unassisted to meet expectations.
