The role

We are currently looking for a Human Resources Trainee Officer to provide assistance in supporting the Aboriginal workforce, human resources, workplace relations, recruitment and onboarding process. Initial training with Justice Health will be undertaken via a formal traineeship resulting in a direct pathway to a career with Justice Health.

  • Be paid to study either Certificate 3 in Business (HR electives) or Certificate 4 in Human Resources during work hours.
  • Liaising with other people in the People and Culture team to provide support to Aboriginal workers.
  • Assist with routine administration tasks.
  • Respond to email and telephone enquiries from Aboriginal workers and candidates for positions.
  • Comply with NSW Health and Justice Health policies and procedures.
  • Help to plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate Aboriginal Health Workforce initiatives within Justice Health NSW and joint Aboriginal Health Initiatives shared in partnership with Corrective Services NSW and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and including managing highly sensitive information.
  • Participate in, and provide support to any Justice Health event, meeting or activity where Aboriginal Workforce are required.
  • Maintain a satisfactory record of workplace attendance.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including processing HR- related documentation, managing HR inbox and correspondence, preparing reports, and assisting with the implementation of HR policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate processing of tasks.

About you

  • Have a willingness to obtain a Certificate III in Human Resources or Business (paid study.)
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability to travel to other areas with NSW as required (infrequently).
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and how to support cultural safety.
  • Experience using office based technology, including a computer.
  • Experience being part of a team.
