  • We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team to fill a grade 1 early graduate role and to make a meaningful impact supporting patients, families and their carers
  • Fixed term, Full time 40 hrs per week with ADOs + 5 weeks annual leave
  • Heidelberg location with multiple public transport options

About the Speech Pathology Department

The Speech Pathology Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health

We have over 40 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.

About the role

This position is one of 4 rotational roles between our acute and subacute sites where you will work under the guidance of a Grade 4 stream leader.

In the course of a day, you may find yourself:

  • Undertaking a swallowing assessment
  • Learn how to undertake videofluoroscopy
  • Attending a team meeting
  • Participating in a quality activity

About you

You will be a new graduate or someone who is in their first year of work who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to you work, and have a keen interest in learning with support. You will learn to provide treatment for a wide variety of clinical conditions, and will have the desire to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
