About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
As a Product Owner supporting digital tools across the Victorian Public Service, you will drive the delivery and continuous improvement of internal systems that improve efficiency, usability, and collaboration within government departments. These products-such as Automated Briefing platforms, Record Management systems, and other shared services-are essential to enabling smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Accountabilities
Liaise with key stakeholders across the business to identify, develop, and prioritise improvement opportunities by analysing performance data and engaging with stakeholders to enhance services for VPS staff.
Represent and balance customer needs with business requirements to provide clear vision and direction to delivery teams, ensuring alignment with the highest value product outcomes.
Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring features and improvements are prioritised in line with strategic goals and customer value.
Contribute to short- and mid-term product planning to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with organisational objectives.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Delivered digital products using Agile methodologies in complex government settings, with expertise in SCRUM, AzureDevOps, Jira, and Confluence.
Built strong partnerships across policy, business, change and technical domains to align on shared outcomes.
Synthesised insights from data, users, and business needs to inform prioritisation and service design.
Embedded human-centred design into delivery, prioritising user needs across digital touchpoints.
