Position Overview 

We are seeking a motivated, reliable and team-oriented Senior Technician to join our company to lead audio visual teams on site.

This role will involve planning and delivering projects, ensuring high-quality standards and smooth operation of all lighting, sound and vision equipment. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain clear communication with clients and fellow crew members to consistently achieve successful event outcomes. The role also includes warehouse prep and de-prep of equipment and transporting and unloading equipment to venues. The successful candidate must be flexible in working evenings, weekends, and varied hours as required by event schedules.

The ideal candidate will be technically skilled with audio visual equipment, solutions-focused, and able to work under pressure in live event environments for a variety of clients including high-end luxury brands. They will bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical teams onsite for events.

  • To embrace and adhere to the values of Pro Light & Sound, and be accountable to implement the strategies, processes and business procedures.

  • Oversee and deliver audio, lighting, and vision setups to a consistent high-standard.

  • Liaise directly with clients, production managers, and crew to ensure event requirements are met.

  • Coordinate load-ins, setups, rehearsals, live operation, and pack-downs.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during events.

  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with OH & S regulations.

  • Mentor and support junior technicians in their development.

  • Prep and de-prep audio visual, lighting, and staging equipment for events following all warehouse processes.

  • Safely load, unload, and transport equipment in company vehicles.

  • Deliver and collect equipment from venues, ensuring timely arrival and secure handling.

  • Operate a forklift for warehouse operations (training provided).

  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness of the warehouse.

  • Provide basic onsite support for event setups and pack-downs as required.

  • Follow all OH & S procedures and company policies.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong in at least one area of technical knowledge: lighting, sound, or vision equipment (multi-skilled candidates are highly regarded).

  • Proven experience leading technical teams in live event environments.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Assist management in creating event briefs & drafting plans, and then implement them onsite with crew.

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and solve problems quickly.

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

  • Current driver's licence (MR or HR licence desirable but not essential).

  • Must hold a current Working With Children's Check.

  • Forklift ticket preferred (can be provided for the right candidate).
