About the Role

We're looking for a strategic and experienced Manager, Technical Services (Advice) to lead a team of hybrid technology professionals responsible for delivering and managing enterprise applications and technologies. This role is central to ensuring exceptional technology outcomes for our members, employers, and business.

You'll drive the implementation of strategic technology change at both platform and application levels, maximise the value of technology investments, improve practices and standards, and manage application lifecycles effectively.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team aligned with SDLC frameworks and organisational standards.
  • Foster clarity, purpose, and psychological safety within the team.
  • Coach and develop team capability to deliver secure, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Support staffing and capacity planning across strategic projects and BAU.
  • Coordinate initiative estimates for accurate planning and delivery.
Application & Risk Management
  • Champion application lifecycle and risk management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage governance practices and service risks.
  • Drive incident, problem, and change management for reliable operations.
  • Use data-driven metrics to improve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Innovate automation and scaling of operations.
  • Maintain Technical Debt & Risk Registers with actionable plans.
Project Standards & Planning
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC standards across Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Balance staffing demands across project and operational workstreams.
  • Review technologies to manage application lifecycles.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on domain and platform strategies.
Stakeholder Management
  • Educate stakeholders on the technology landscape to support backlog prioritisation.
  • Identify and lead improvement opportunities through lean canvases and funding requests.
Operational Oversight & Incident Management
  • Manage ITSM processes for incidents, service requests, and changes.
  • Engage in prioritisation and escalation with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards and delivery methodologies.
Vendor Management
  • Interface with managed service providers for daily delivery.
  • Collaborate with Vendor Service Delivery Managers to improve standards.
  • Drive operational efficiency across application towers.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage transitions.
  • Set talent benchmarks and address capability gaps with vendors.
About You

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience mentoring high-performance teams.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, CI/CD, ITIL, SDLC, and DevOps.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills across multiple workstreams.
  • A project-oriented mindset for delivering application change.
  • Extensive ITSM experience with a focus on continual improvement.
  • Experience managing hybrid or outsourced vendor teams.
  • Knowledge of emerging tech trends and IT architecture.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Business, or related fields.
  • Experience as a Software Engineer with leadership responsibilities.
  • Background in financial services and exposure to IT security and audit.
