About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney's western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

We are seeking a committed and vigilant Security Officer to join the Safe Assessment Unit, a specialised area within the Emergency Department designed to support patients presenting with behavioural disturbances related to alcohol and drugs. This unit provides a safe, low stimulus environment where vulnerable individuals can be admitted, assessed, and treated by a multidisciplinary team, helping to reduce pressure on the broader emergency department.

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors through regular patrols, managing access to the facility, responding to incidents, and supporting the management of aggressive or challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will ensure the proper use and monitoring of security equipment, respond to alarms, and maintain accurate records in line with the Security Industry Act and relevant policies.

If you're ready to play a vital role in protecting and supporting a healthcare environment where safety and care go hand in hand, we invite you to join our team and make a meaningful impact every day.

Benefits Available To Eligible NBMLHD Employees

  • Accrued Day Off (ADO)
  • Opportunity for extra tax savings through Salary Packaging
  • Novated Leasing
  • Great education opportunities through Education Training Service which offers over 110 courses each year
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members
  • Fitness Passport

NBMLHD is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment which reflects the community we serve. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTIQA+, Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people, neurodiverse individuals, and people with disabilities to apply.
