About the Opportunity:

The Underwriting Assistant is responsible for supporting the Underwriting team with renewals and day to day tasks and new business enquiries. This role will focus on optimising efficiency whilst fostering internal and external relationships. The role offers practical learning experience to order to build Underwriting skills in various areas to assist in future development.

This role is a 12-month maximum term position based in Melbourne CBD.

This role will include:

• Support the team with servicing, building and maintaining relationships.
• Support the team in managing day-to-day broker enquiries, providing administrative support to the team
• Prepare and issue various policy documentation.
• The ability to keep systems and files up to date with accuracy along with an inbox of incoming new and remarketing submissions
• Participate in external communication where needed to triage the case for the commercial team
• Set up cases for the underwriting team for pipeline management, pricing and quoting purposes
• Perform case preparation for SME opportunities
• After successful training provide SME quotations to the market with the mentorship and supervision of a commercial underwriter
• Engage with external stakeholders to explore additional/alternative structures to maximise our chances of closing opportunities and ensure delivery of best offers/options to market
• The potential to manage a portfolio and meet with brokers to discuss features and benefits of BCC

About You:

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

• Trade credit insurance market knowledge highly desirable
• Degree qualified is advantageous
• Prior experience in underwriting highly regarded.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships under time-sensitive and commercially sensitive conditions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and insurance software systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence internally and externally
