Our client is a leading engineering and manufacturing Australian owned business in the rail, defence and mining sector. They require an experienced Lead Proposals Specialist to help the team in preparing quotations, interpreting tenders and cost estimates for works. Candidates will have experience in understanding contracts, evaluate opportunities, read and interpret tenders to build tender responses and recording all bid related activities.

The successful applicant will provide support to the team by developing documents IAW ASDEFCON templates. Candidates will have a track record working in Bid Teams and writing proposals as well as providing value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities.

The Role

  • Proven experience with defence writing standards for bids and tenders
  • Excellent communication skills, both Written and Oral
  • Experience in supporting defence bids and proposals
  • Review and interpret tender documentation
  • Estimate labour, material, and subcontractor costs
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to clarify technical and commercial requirements
  • Drive competitive pricing through data-driven analysis

Requirements

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Estimating, or Project Management (highly regarded)
  • Managed multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Good understanding of Australian and international engineering/manufacturing standards
  • A detailed understanding of contracts and how they're created would be beneficial
  • Experience in preparing and delivering competitive proposals
  • Candidates will need to be an Australian Citizen to apply
  • There is an ITAR compliance aspect to this role

Candidates who have worked with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Commercial, WHS, and HR to develop compliant tender responses should apply. This role would be ideal for candidates with a relevant degree, diploma or certificate from an Australian Tertiary Institution (such as project Management), or demonstrated equivalent experience should apply.
