The Role
This Engineer Professional position is within the MCPSPO Engineering section, working under the direction of the MCPSPO Principal Engineer, to perform and achieve complex Systems Engineering work within the MCPSPO integrated team, other NSSG System Program Offices and industry to meet capability requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical experience with Naval Architecture or Aeronautical systems, understand the Defence maritime domain and have well-developed analytical skills. The role requires application of Systems Engineering principles and technical expertise with Naval Architecture or Aeronautical systems. The work of the Systems sub-function in Defence requires engagement with stakeholders, investigation of Systems Engineering concepts, delivery and management of systems, engineering specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle. In this role, you will investigate, analyse and report on defects and requirements as well as develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.

This role will predominantly work with Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Support Crafts and select ancillary assets, but you will also apply your Naval Architecture and/or Aeronautical knowledge to various other systems and products under MCPSPOs remit as required. As an APS6 Engineering Professional, you will work independently and as part of a larger team with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of your team and organisation. You will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. You will provide detailed Systems Engineering technical and professional advice to Executive Authority in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management. This role requires a considerable level of stakeholder engagement in relation to complex or difficult issues, and you will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder's needs and expectations to achieve expected outcomes. You will provide supervision over a fellow Engineer and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. This supervision will require coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work.

About our Team
The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division is the lead agency for the delivery of cross-Class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and offshore. Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions: Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering.
