About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre
We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.
About The Role
This role provides high quality, safe and effective service responses to Victorians seeking support and services through The Orange Door Barwon. As a practitioner, you will work as an integrated member of The Orange Door Barwon team to deliver an integrated practice model.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Your application must address the following:
- A relevant graduate or post graduate qualification in psychology, social work or other equivalent qualification (or be working towards this.
- A minimum one year relevant experience.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of the drivers and causes of family violence from a gendered, feminist, and structural perspective, including the impact on children, individuals, and families, and an ability to apply intersectional feminist and structural theory in context.
- Knowledge of the effects and impact of family violence and interpersonal trauma on adults, young people, children, and non-offending family members.
- Knowledge of the child and family services sector and/or broader social services sector.
- Ability to conduct trauma-informed family violence risk assessments, develop safety plans, manage risk, and deliver brief crisis interventions.
- Skilled in applying risk-relevant assessment tools and frameworks, including the child wellbeing assessments as per the best Interests Case Practice Model (BICPM) and Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management assessments (MARAM, to promote the safety, stability, wellbeing, and development of children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated capacity to advocate, communicate, liaise, and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and complex systems.
- Demonstrated self-management skills and abilities by inviting feedback and understanding of own behaviour and the impact it has on others.
- Capacity to manage complex and demanding workloads while prioritising risk and needs of adults, young people and children as well as people using violence and consulting with Team Leaders and Practice Leaders as required.
- Ability to maintain accurate, confidential case notes in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) system and manage client information in accordance with Family Violence Information Sharing (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) requirements.

Period of Appointment
This position is ongoing, subject to funding.
There are multiple positions available.
Hours of work
- The position is 1.0 FTE full time. Part-time arrangements may be considered.
- Location of the position is at Geelong
- Hours will usually be worked during business hours of 9.00am to 5.06 pm between Monday to Friday based on the needs of the service
- Flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time as the need arises.
Salary and Conditions
Annual salary range is $100, $105,371.24 plus superannuation. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.
Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.
Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
