About the role

We are seeking a Head of Department to join our dedicated Cytology Team within Clayton, Victoria.

Skills and experience:

· High attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment

· An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work

· High level of customer service skills

· Compliance with all Company policies, including zero tolerance and a non-smoking workplace

· Rights to work in Australia

Required Qualifications and Working Experience:

· Bachelor of Applied Science with a minimum 7 years working experience

· Membership in the Australian Society of Cytology (ASC) aligned with updated NPAAC guidelines

· Experience in the cytological screening of gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens including fine needle aspirations

· An understanding of the National Cervical Screening Program

Responsibilities are including but not limited to:

· Developing and achieving departmental KPI's including but not limited to, head count, FTE, consumable spend, turnaround time, regulatory compliance.

· Develop/monitor reporting and data analytics for distribution both internally of the department and to management/executive that drive continuous improvement.

· Develop and implement lean work systems.

· Assist, as required, with budgeting and adherence of departmental financial and customer service goals.

· Develop and embed department communication channels to ensure regular and consistent messaging.

· Lead by example to create a patient centered, positive and collaborative culture.

· Oversee departmental rostering.

· Oversee equipment maintenance.

· Oversee supply provision of adequate reagent and consumable supplies.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

· Remaining aware of emerging technologies relevant to Cytology and workflow.

· Be at the forefront of emerging technology and development of new and emerging tests within Cytology.

· Change management within the departments to bring about operational and cultural improvement.
