About the role
This is a strategic and hands on leadership role, responsible for shaping how our organisation connects with the community. You will:
- Lead the implementation of our Community Engagement Strategy across multiple centres.
- Provide central support and direction to local community engagement teams, ensuring consistency and high standards.
- Research and monitor emerging community needs, engagement trends, and opportunities for organisational involvement, ensuring our programs remain relevant and impactful.
- Design and oversee a calendar of programs and events, from small local initiatives to major community-wide activations.
- Manage event logistics, budgets, compliance, and risk assessments to ensure safe, successful, and memorable experiences.
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community groups, and local stakeholders, strengthening our community presence.
- Represent the organisation at forums and events, showcasing our commitment to community wellbeing.
- Mentor, support, and inspire community engagement staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for a dynamic, community-focused leader with the following:
Experience- Proven background in community engagement, events management, or program delivery within leisure, sport, recreation, or related sectors.
- Experience in delivering both small-scale initiatives and larger event coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain community and school partnerships.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and people management skills.
- A positive, community-driven mindset with a passion for fostering inclusivity and wellbeing.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Energetic, approachable, and confident engaging with diverse groups.
- A creative problem solver who thrives on delivering meaningful community outcomes.
- Highly organised with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement.
- A natural collaborator and inspirational leader, with presence and authenticity.
Work Locations & On Call Requirements
This role is based full time in our National Site Support Office in Essendon, Victoria.. Our Industry is also not a 9-5 with facilities open early in morning and closing late into the evening so flexibility and availability to respond to urgent requests and issues is also required.
