About the role

We are seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at LOCAL BURLEIGH HEADS' in Burleigh Heads, Queensland. This is a full-time role that will see you playing a key strategic and operational role within our vibrant, award-winning restaurant.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistent high-quality food delivery
  • Supervising and training kitchen staff to maintain exceptional standards
  • Monitoring inventory and placing orders to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Collaborating with the front-of-house team to ensure a seamless dining experience for our customers
  • Adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a busy restaurant environment
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating a kitchen team
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of contemporary cuisine trends
  • Experience across all culinary styles with adaptability to diverse menu requirements
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Food safety certification and knowledge of relevant regulations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Must have Australian work rights for this position
