We are looking for experienced Track Machine Maintainers or Mobile Equipment Maintainers to safely maintain and improve our track machines assets from Tampers, Regulators and Mobile Flash Butts. These machines are an integral part of the track maintenance division at Rio Tinto.

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance and working in an exciting environment you will play a key role in identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance and health through our asset management system, actively raising notifications and completing work orders. Additionally, you will support the defect elimination process and contribute to work management analysis and asset tactics reviews to enhance overall asset performance. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that work management activities are executed in accordance with job instructions and undertaking post-maintenance equipment commissioning and clean-up.

What you'll bring

  • Heavy Duty Diesel Trade certificate – Mechanical or Fitting
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Strong background in Heavy Mobile Equipment
  • Background in Rail Track Maintenance Machine repairs and maintenance advantageous
  • Sound understanding of hydraulic principles
  • Current manual 'C' Class Driver's License
  • Excellent communication skills, and proven ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and autonomously

Highly desirable if you have the following:

  • HR Drivers License
  • RTIO inductions
  • Previous rail experience on Plasser - Tampers Regulators, Vaia Car - Welders
  • Knowledge of computer programs including SAP

Where you will be working

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 16 mines across the Pilbara via 1,800km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Dampier (7 Mile), West Angelas, Cape Lambert and Gudai-Darri each train is operated by our state of the art AutoHaul system and comprises of three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network and value input from our employees to improve our asset and the way we operate.
