About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

Introducing the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAHMU), a fresh, purpose built 10-bed facility dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are navigating complex and severe mental health challenges. This state-of-the-art inpatient unit is the newest chapter in the Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYFMH) story, expanding its reach to provide compassionate, specialised care from the earliest stages of life through to young adulthood. NAHMU isn't just a place of healing, it's a vital step forward in empowering young people and their families with the support they need, when they need it most.

We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Carer Peer Support Worker to join the NAMHU interdisciplinary care team at Nepean Hospital. This impactful role draws on personal lived experience to support carers and families of adolescents facing mental health challenges, offering both emotional and practical guidance during their child's inpatient journey.

As a vital link between families and the mental health system, you'll share insights, foster resilience, and help carers confidently navigate available services and resources. If you're passionate about making a difference and turning lived experience into meaningful support, this is your opportunity to be part of a pioneering team shaping youth mental health care. Apply now

The role aligns with the NSW Lived Experience (Peer) Workforces Framework, which recognises the importance of employing people with lived experience in the mental health workforce. Peer work is founded on recovery principles, trauma informed care and person and family centered care" (Lived Experience Framework for NSW | Mental Health Commission of New South Wales).
