About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

The PACER Clinician will play a vital role within a collaborative co-responder model developed by the NBMLHD Mental Health Service in partnership with NSW Police (Nepean Police Area Command). This innovative model pairs a mental health clinician with a police officer to respond jointly to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Together, they deliver timely, mobile, onsite mental health assessments and advanced crisis management, ensuring consumers receive appropriate care in the least restrictive and most trauma-informed manner possible.

This position demands a high level of clinical expertise and a deep understanding of mental health disorders. The clinician will provide direct support, treatment, coordination, and education to emergency services personnel working with individuals who present with complex mental and physical health needs. Flexibility is essential, as the role includes evening and weekend shifts to meet the needs of the community.

The PACER Model aligns with the strategic vision of the NBMLHD Mental Health Service: "The people of our district will always have the best opportunity to receive appropriate mental health and wellbeing services and to live well in the community and on their own terms." All staff are expected to embody and promote the NSW Health CORE (Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment) values, through their conduct and interactions with patients, clients, and colleagues.

Ready to take the next step? Apply now and unlock exciting opportunities that align with your goals.
