Primary objective

Provide administration, communications logistics and support, to effectively promote the activities of the department to

enable the achievement of agency strategic goals.

Context statement

As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team the candidate should have experience using modern communication channels,

strong administrative skills and attention to detail, strong organisation and time management skills.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Assist in implementing communication activities, such as public awareness campaigns, promotional activities and digital

communication materials, consistent with government policies and strategies.

2. Provide desktop design activities and newsletter writing.

3. Coordinate and assist in the preparation of briefings, reports, general correspondence, records management, business

systems management, meeting preparation, including agendas, collating papers and taking minutes.

  1. Manage a range of procurement functions including travel arrangements, general purchasing, liaising with suppliers,

organising payment including credit card transactions.

5. Provide writing, proofreading and editing skills for a complete range of communication materials.

6. Provide support to the Assistant Director Communications.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in developing, planning and implementing communications activities.

2. Experience and interest in using a range of computer applications, including Adobe Creative, Microsoft Office, or video

production and animation software to produce communication, marketing and advertising products.

3. Proven effective administrative and organisational experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under

pressure, priorities task and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, professionally and diplomatically, including the ability to prepare

correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.

5. Strong oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to proofread, copy edit, with attention to detail and

expertise in document production.

6. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a flexible and responsive manner to support team objectives, to

self-identify risks and opportunities, and to interact as an engaged, effective team member.
