The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre invites applications from suitably qualified Aborigines for the position of CEO to replace the present incumbent who is retiring.
The CEO is accountable to the Aboriginal community of Lutruwita/Tasmania through its AGM and a community Board elected every two years. The TAC has a long and proud history starting as a voluntary organisation in the early 1970s to become a multi-million dollar organisation with over 200 staff operating from 7 locations throughout the State.
The TAC is the Tasmanian Affiliate of NACCHO and is the Tasmanian member for the national Coalition of Peak Organisations for Closing the Gap represented by the CEO. The TAC holds AGPAL, QIP, Child Care and Aged Home Care accreditations.
The CEO is responsible for the day to day operations of the organisation, is the principal public spokesperson and advises the Board on strategic and governance issues. The TAC is currently evolving a management structure of 5 Divisions with 4 Managers accountable to the CEO.
The successful applicant will have experience in leadership and management in the non-profit Aboriginal community-controlled sector and a solid background in public representation and advocacy.

The position is based in Nipaluna/Hobart or Launceston with intra-State and some interstate travel required. Pay and conditions are regulated by the TAC Enterprise Agreement 2025 or as negotiated with the TAC Board. Salary sacrifice and 16% superannuation apply.
