The LECC works collaboratively with the NSWPF and the NSWCC to educate and promote the prevention and elimination of officer misconduct, particularly through the identification of systemic issues that are likely to be conducive to the occurrence of officer misconduct and corruption. The LECC also undertakes independent, real-time monitoring of critical incident investigations undertaken by the NSWPF and can make reports on the conduct of critical incident investigations by the NSWPF.

It is an essential requirement for this role that you are able to demonstrate a minimum of five years' service in a State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency and/or Integrity Agency (other than the NSW Police Force, as described in section 8 of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016).
This role will suit an experienced professional with significant demonstrated experience in conducting investigations in a law enforcement environment with a detailed appreciation of modern investigative strategies. You will require high-level communication skills and a practical understanding of the law enforcement environment.
It is an essential requirement for this role that you are able to demonstrate a minimum of five years' service in a State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency and/or Integrity Agency (other than the NSW Police Force, as described in section 8 of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016).
Reporting to the Manager Investigations, Integrity Division and working as an integral part of the Integrity Division team, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to undertake professional, effective and timely investigations into allegations of serious misconduct and maladministration in the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission. You will also be responsible for providing timely advice and recommendations to the Manager Investigations and other key LECC staff on Integrity investigations related matters.

These are full-time Sydney CBD based positions. One position is ongoing and one position is temporary for a period up to 12 months.
Eligibility
- To be eligible to apply for this role you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Serving or former sworn officers of the NSW Police Force are ineligible to apply for this role.
- You may be asked to undergo a health assessment to assess your fitness for this role.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum five years' service in a State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency and/or Integrity Agency (other than the NSW Police Force or NSW Crime Commission).
- Police Detective designation or similar experience and training with a proven record of preparing briefs of evidence and/or bringing evidence based matters before a court of competent jurisdiction.
- Be prepared to be certified to possess and use firearms and other prohibited weapons in accordance with the terms and provisions of the LECC's Firearms and Prohibited Weapons policy and guidelines.
- Significant experience conducting and managing investigations in relation to serious criminal offences and a demonstrated understanding of the rules of evidence and court procedures.
- High level written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse background, occupation and seniority.
- Significant experience utilising traditional and contemporary interviewing techniques and extensive knowledge of investigative processes and practices used in the investigation of reactive and pro-active operations of a complex and difficult nature.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical understanding of law enforcement policy, practice, procedures and culture.
- A probity assessment to establish reliability, trustworthiness, integrity and suitability of employment. In addition, LECC officers are also required to obtain a commonwealth security clearance, with the Senior Investigator, Integrity requiring clearance up to NV1 classification.
- Possession of a current Australian driver's license.
Availability to work outside of normal business hours as operationally required.
Security vetting
- The successful applicant will undergo a stringent national security clearance assessment at Negative Vetting 1 Level.
