Bean & Base is a buzzing, community-focused restaurant in the heart of Rippleside, Geelong. We're known for our curated seasonal brunch menu, specialty coffee, and modern, relaxed space that draws a loyal local crowd and weekend visitors alike.
We're looking for an experienced and creative Chef to join our kitchen team. If you're passionate about high-quality food, have a sharp eye for detail, and enjoy working in a fast-paced café environment, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
Planning and organising the preparation and cooking of food in the café
Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
Discussing food preparation issues with managers, dietitians and kitchen staff
Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
Preparing and cooking food
Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
Freezing and preserving foods
Training and supervising kitchen staff and apprentices
Qualifications & Experience
Certificate III, IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma in Hospitality Management
Minimum 1 years of experience as a chef
Proven ability to manage a busy kitchen while producing high-quality food
Solid understanding of food cost management and kitchen operations
Current knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations (HACCP)
Team-focused, positive attitude, and strong communication skills
Salary & Benefits
AUD $76,000 – $77,000 per annum (excluding superannuation), negotiable depending on experience
