About the Role

CloudMarc is seeking a highly experienced
Senior Data Engineer
with deep expertise in
SAP Datasphere
to take a technical leadership role in building scalable domain data products and driving platform interoperability.

This role will be responsible for setting patterns, designing data architectures, and ensuring seamless integration with the broader enterprise data ecosystem (including HANA Cloud, Snowflake, SAC, and streaming technologies). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in elevating data quality, reliability, and speed across multiple delivery squads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect domain data products covering ingestion, transformation, semantic layer, and sharing.
  • Define platform standards (Spaces topology, governance, naming conventions, transport strategy).
  • Lead performance engineering: query optimization, caching/federation strategies, workload management, and cost controls.
  • Design secure data access (RLS/CLS, masking, PII/tokenization) aligned to governance and compliance.
  • Establish end-to-end observability (SLIs/SLOs, data quality SLAs, lineage).
  • Own incident response and capacity planning; drive root cause eradication.
  • Evaluate and implement integration patterns (BW Bridge migration, ODP/SLT, SDI/SDA, virtualization vs. persistence).
  • Collaborate across platforms (Snowflake, SAC, Power BI, etc.) for publishing and consuming data products.
  • Coach engineers, lead design reviews, and influence the technical roadmap.
  • Engage with product, analytics, and business stakeholders to communicate trade-offs and drive value.

Skills & Tools

  • Expertise in SAP Datasphere (Data Builder, Data Flow, Replication/ODP, BW Bridge, semantic modeling, catalog/lineage).
  • Advanced HANA Cloud (calculation views, engines, workload management, partitioning, SQLScript).
  • Integration architecture knowledge: CDC/replication, API/event/streaming, virtualization vs. ETL.
  • Strong background in security, compliance, and governance (SoD, auditing, retention policies).
  • CI/CD at scale, infrastructure-as-code, test automation, and SRE practices.
  • Nice to have: Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, dbt, Python.

Experience

  • 6–10+ years of data engineering experience.
  • 3–5+ years in a leadership role focused on SAP Datasphere / HANA Cloud.
  • Proven track record of designing and operating tier-1 data products with strict SLAs.
  • Experience delivering successful migrations (e.g., BW → Datasphere BW Bridge).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to drive engineering maturity uplift.

  • Domain data platform achieves agreed SLOs with measurable improvements in incident reduction and latency.
  • Migration projects delivered on time with high reliability.
  • Adoption of reusable standards/templates across teams.
  • Clear stakeholder outcomes: improved time-to-insight, self-serve adoption, and cost efficiency.
