The OpportunityAs a Senior Data Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership in building and maintaining enterprise-grade data pipelines, integrations, and investment reporting solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in driving the automation, centralisation, and distribution of investment data across the business, ensuring it informs critical decision-making.
This role focuses on the full data ecosystem - from source through to warehouse and reporting - while also driving best practice in DevOps, pipeline testing, and governance. You will work closely with investment and technology teams, mentoring peers and influencing the adoption of high-quality data engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, build, and optimisation of data ingestion, transformation, and reporting pipelines.
- Deploy and support solutions in AWS cloud, using tools such as Lambda, Glue, Athena, Redshift, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to translate investment data requirements into fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Provide technical oversight, code reviews, and mentorship to other developers.
- Champion automation, test-driven development, and DevSecOps practices in data engineering.
- Support the delivery of enterprise-wide data initiatives and investment reporting projects.
- Build strong relationships with business teams to ensure data solutions align with strategic needs.

Essential skills & experience
- Advanced experience with SQL as well as proficiency in programming languages (preferably Python and R).
- Strong background in data engineering, including ETL, warehouse solutions, and complex data modelling.
- Experience in AWS cloud environments and building REST API integrations.
- Proven ability to analyse complex data sets, identify anomalies, and deliver high-quality reporting and insights.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and present technical solutions clearly.
Desirable
- Exposure to investment data platforms (e.g. risk/performance systems, portfolio management systems, Bloomberg, Eagle, Markit, Golden Source).
- Knowledge of financial instruments (equities, fixed income, debt/loans, derivatives, property, infrastructure).
- Experience with data governance frameworks (e.g. DMBOK) and emerging data technologies (visualisation, strategy, rationalisation).
- Familiarity with Python frameworks (Django, Flask, Bottle).
- A senior seat at the table in building world-class data engineering solutions.
