What is the role?

The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) was established in 2018 by the Australian Government to drive a collaborative national response to counter the online exploitation of children. The AFP leads the ACCCE, which brings together capabilities from across the Commonwealth, law enforcement, non-government organisations, and other partners to build capability and drive a collaborative national response to counter the exploitation of children in Australia.

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the position of Capability Delivery Specialist, ACCCE Technical Capability Unit (TCU). The TCU integrates new and improved technologies to enhance the ACCCE's National capabilities and worldwide efforts in fighting online child sexual exploitation. This includes management of the ACCCE network and dedicated child protection systems in partnership with Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command.

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Capability Delivery Specialist responsibilities will include:

Support TCU Team Leader and Delivery Manager in the implementation of new technology and tools for Child Protection Operations.

Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on ACCCE applications and tools.

Manage software upgrades or other IT projects as required.

Support ACCCE software and hardware provided to our State and Territory Police partners and ACCCE members.

Maintain liaison with law enforcement authorities in order to facilitate investigations by law enforcement agencies.

Developing training material and reports.

Work with CIO Command on ICT incidents, problems and planned work for the ACCCE Network.

Ensuring that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, communicate, investigate and resolve problems in ACCCE systems and services.

Maintaining currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.

Providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members to improve their skills and performance.

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Ability to complete psychological clearance.

High proficiency in working in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office products.

Expertise in networking, file systems and file formats.

Expertise in working with SQL and other databases formats.

Expertise in administering Virtual Machines.

Demonstrated experience in presenting clear and concise technical information to business stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

A strong understanding of digital technologies and appreciation of technical development methodologies and tools (i.e. Agile, DevOps).

Willingness to upskill and undertake training to learn new technologies.

Qualification or Certifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or related.

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

Qualifications or experience in managing complex ICT projects.

Expert knowledge in administering and supporting Child Protection industry specific software

Additional Information

This role is located in Brisbane, QLD and applicants are expected to be based in Brisbane.

This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns of attendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that are required under the Operations working pattern. In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive a Core Composite of 22% in addition to their base salary, which will count as salary for superannuation. The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.

The TCU is a high risk team as per the Handbook: Managing the Psychological Impact to Exposure to Explicit Material. Members are required to view a high volume of child exploitation material.
