Commercial Product Manager

We specialise in retail recreational insurance, pleasure craft, motorcycles, caravans and commercial marine lines.

Our products are distributed via licensed insurance brokers, franchised dealers, and directly to consumers.

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Commercial Product Manager to lead the development, performance, and compliance of our commercial insurance portfolio. This role is ideal for a professional with deep industry knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for product innovation and operational excellence.

As a senior member of the team, you will oversee product strategy, underwriting frameworks, and portfolio performance. You will work closely with analytics, compliance, and distribution teams to ensure our products remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with customer needs. Your ability to influence, collaborate, and drive strategic outcomes will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and execution of commercial product strategy

· Oversee underwriting frameworks and ensure alignment with insurer expectations

· Monitor portfolio performance including GWP and loss ratio against budget

· Collaborate with analytics teams to interpret data and identify opportunities

· Coach and develop team members and business partners

· Support change initiatives and foster a high-performance, compliance-driven culture

· Maintain product governance, including binder authorities and delegated limits

· Contribute to business development and broker engagement

· Ensure documentation and processes meet legal, regulatory, and internal standards

Skills & Experience

· Minimum 7 years' experience in commercial insurance (product, underwriting, pricing, or claims)

· At least 5 years' leadership experience in team or portfolio management

· Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, finance, law, or related discipline (ANZIIF preferred)

· Strong analytical and actuarial skills, with advanced Excel proficiency

· Deep understanding of short and long-tail insurance products and compliance frameworks

· Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills

· Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver strategic outcomes

· Ability to pass comprehensive background checks including financial probity assessment
