About the role

This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the civil infrastructure of one of Australia's most iconic transport hubs. As
Assistant Civil Maintenance Manager
, you'll help ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of Sydney Airport's airfield pavements, road networks, stormwater systems, and more.

Reporting to the Civil Maintenance Manager, you'll support the delivery of critical maintenance services and infrastructure projects that directly impact the airport's operational integrity and customer experience. This is a hands-on,
24-month maximum term contract role
, where your technical expertise and stakeholder management skills will help shape the future of Sydney Airport.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Assist in managing civil maintenance contracts, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring accurate billing and financial reconciliation.
  • Coordinate Works Safety Officers and runway shutdowns to minimise operational disruption.
  • Contribute to inspections and maintenance planning for pavements, roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
  • Support airside grounds maintenance including FOD response, landscaping, and spill control.
  • Assist with runway friction testing and Aerodrome Technical Inspections to meet CASA requirements.

About you

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master's in pavement engineering desirable).
  • 1-3 years experience in civil maintenance, pavement management, and aircraft pavement design.
  • Strong understanding of WH&S, QA, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, coordinate projects, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
