About Our Client

Our client is a government-operated correctional facility committed to safety, rehabilitation, and skill development. The facility provides structured programs aimed at supporting prisoner reintegration through meaningful work and training.

What you will be Doing

You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance activities across the facility, including:

  • Routine and emergency maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment
  • Supervising and mentoring prisoners in trade-based work
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and coordinating fault resolution
  • Maintaining accurate records, fault logs, and reports
  • Ensuring compliance with OHS regulations, departmental policies, and industry standards
  • Supporting rehabilitation through practical skill development
  • Maintaining safe and compliant workshop conditions
  • Contributing to continuous activity programs for prisoners

What you will need

  • Certificate III in a relevant construction or building trade (e.g. Bricklaying, Carpentry, Building Maintenance, Appliance Service) or Trade Qualified Plumber / Electrician
  • Current Construction Industry White Card
  • Proven experience in building, facility, or maintenance environment
  • Ability to supervise and train others in a workshop or trade setting
  • Strong understanding of OHS compliance and safe work practices

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in a correctional, institutional, or secure facility
  • Ability to mentor individuals with diverse learning needs
  • Familiarity with Department of Justice policies and rehabilitation programs
