Sandvik Mining
Employee Relations Specialist – Heatherbrae, NSW

About the opportunity

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Employee Relations Specialist to join our team and play a key role in shaping our employee experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.

As the Employee Relations Specialist, you'll be the go-to expert for managing employee relations matters, supporting enterprise agreement processes, and maintaining strong relationships with unions and industry bodies. You'll ensure our practices are aligned with employment legislation and reflect our values and business priorities.

Area of responsibility:

  • Champion the Sandvik Way by aligning practices with our values and ensuring compliance across the board.
  • Be the go-to expert for resolving workplace challenges—from grievances to conflict resolution—ensuring fairness and consistency.
  • Empower leaders with trusted advice and practical support to foster a respectful, high-performing culture.
  • Lead the charge in enterprise bargaining, shaping agreements that balance business needs with employee wellbeing.
  • Cultivate respectful, collaborative relationships and foster a positive industrial relations environment.
  • Spot trends before they emerge through insightful reporting and risk analysis.
  • Keep us future-ready by monitoring legislative changes and translating them into actionable business advice.
  • Shape policy that reflects our values, meets legal obligations, and supports a thriving workplace.

About you

To thrive in this role, you'll bring a strong academic background, ideally with tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline. Your experience in employee relations will be key, as you'll be navigating complex workplace matters with confidence and care. A solid grasp of employment legislation and conflict resolution strategies is essential, allowing you to guide others through challenging situations with clarity and fairness.

Your communication and negotiation skills will set you apart—whether you're advising leaders, working with unions, or representing the company in formal settings, you'll be able to build trust and influence outcomes. Integrity and discretion are non-negotiable in this role, as you'll be handling sensitive issues that require sound judgment and professionalism.

If you've had exposure to union negotiations and enterprise agreement management, that's a definite advantage. This experience will help you lead strategic discussions and ensure our agreements reflect both compliance and operational needs.

Agencies need not apply.
To be eligible for this role, you must have the right to live and work in Australia. Please note that as part of our recruitment process, you will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment medical.
